The Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite is now available for the All-New Ford F-150! The covers are currently in production and will begin shipping on Friday, March 27, 2015! We are now accepting Pre-Orders on the G4 Elite through the Fold-a-Cover Factory Store website.
There is a new and improved installation method for the G4 Elite on the new F-150 that no longer requires access through the stake hole pockets. This means that the installation is a fully clamp-on installation with no modification to the plastic bed rail protectors needed. We, also, pre-install all of the weather seals on the covers so there is no longer a temperature requirement when installing the product. Additionally, the Center Latch catch has been integrated into the Windseal Rail assemblies which removes an entire step from the installation process. That makes the install one of the fastest ever for a G4 Elite.
The Personal Caddy is still 4-6 weeks out. Once completed, Steffens Automotive will provide a Coupon Code to customers who’ve already ordered the G4 Elite so that they can still take advantage of the bundle pricing. The Personal Caddy installation process is still as simple as ever.
The G4 Elite Installation for the new F-150 is very similar to our installation on the new Silverado. The main differences are in the Striker Brackets, of which all 4 on the F-150 clamp to the inside, return-lip of the truck bed rail like the Front Striker bracket in the video below. Check it out to get a rough idea of the installation method.
I’m getting a new 2015 F150. I love the idea of the front access and personal caddy, but I also want to be able to keep things dry. Have any improvements been made on water resistance?
Joe,
Thank you for contacting Steffens Enterprises, the makers of Fold-a-Cover.
Folding tonneau covers, by nature, are not and cannot be 100% waterproof. Our cover has been tested to be 98% water resistant during natural rainfall. This is a relative term, meaning that the more water that lands on top of your truck bed, say during torrential rains or in a high-pressure carwash, the more likely you will see water enter your truck bed. To be perfectly honest, if water penetration is your #1 concern, we would not recommend a folding tonneau cover. The only covers that we are aware of that have the potential to be 100% water resistant are solid, fiberglass tops that wrap over your bed rails and even these covers do not prevent water from entering through the tailgate.
Please feel free to contact us at Fold-a-Cover Support if you have any additional questions. Thank you for your interest in Fold-a-Cover.
When is the personal caddy for the F-150 going to be available?
Brian,
Thank you for contacting Steffens Enterprises, the makers of Fold-a-Cover.
We are very close to releasing the Personal Caddy for the new F-150. I would expect it to be released within the next few weeks. Everyone who has already purchased a G4 Elite for the new F-150 will be automatically sent an email once the Personal Caddy has been released. Please contact us directly at Fold-a-Cover Support if you have any additional questions.
Ihave a 2012 F150 with a factory installed bed liner can I put the Fold a cover on with the bed liner.
Ed,
Thank you for contacting Fold-a-Cover.
Yes, you can install a Fold-a-Cover with a factory drop-in bedliner. You may need to trim the bedliner to accommodate the mounting brackets of the tonneau cover. With the F-150, most of the hardware is clamped to the bed rails, so, there is minimal interaction between the brackets and the bedliner. However, bedliners have a high tolerance and sometimes they need to be modified.
Please contact us at Fold-a-Cover Support if you have any additional questions.
On March 26th Joe Wood asked about the water tightness of your cover. I understand that to guarantee waterproof is beyond possible. If the Personal Caddy is not watertight it is useless. Is the Personal Caddy at least water tight?
John,
Thank you for contacting Fold-a-Cover.
Anything stored beneath the tonneau cover is 98% water resistant. We’ve taken precautions to help prevent water from entering the Personal Caddy but, it is beneath the cover and therefore is only 98% water resistant. We strongly encourage our customers to protect any water sensitive materials stored beneath the tonneau cover in waterproof containers.

Two quick questions:
1)Your excellent videos show how on other covers you can stick a coat hanger under the cover and pull on the locking cable. It looks like the G4 Elite has a black tube that surrounds the cable. Is it rigid and generally, in most cases, will prevent the same issue your video exposes on other covers?
2)I notice you can purchase extra keys which is good. However, there are only about six or seven different keys. Is there an identification on the lock that is visible to the outside that someone could read and then order keys from your website to open the cover or is the id hidden so someone would need to order all the keys (I know this is a remote chance but want to know before ordering)?
Thank you very much for your time.
Dan,
Thank you for contacting Fold-a-Cover.
1) While there is a cable that is protected by a black rubber tube, the cable only operates one side of the cover at a time instead of releasing both latches. So, it would be much more difficult and would probably require two people to both release the latches using the cable simultaneously while lifting up on the rear panel.
2) There are 10 different key codes to select from. There is some identifying information on the lock cylinders that indicates which key to purchase. That code would be hidden by the dust cover installed on the lock cylinder. A potential thief would have to know that the key code allows you to buy the correct set and would need to know where to go to purchase a matching set of keys. These are custom keys and cylinders made for us by the manufacturer and we are the sole distributor of these keys for our products.

Some questions:
Most importantly, is the G4 Elite available for 2015+ F150s with an 8ft bed? If not, will it be? The configurator just autoresets when I select an 8 foot bed and click submit, on both Reg and Supercab.
How difficult is removal to the point where I can put on a cap, like a Snugtop or ARE? Removal to get an open bed seems really easy, but does that leave anything behind that will interfere with mounting a cap?
Any plans for making a Personal Caddy for 8 foot beds?
Peter,
Thank you for contacting Fold-a-Cover.
At this time we are not offering the G4 Elite for the F-150 with the 8′ truck bed. I am not aware of any plans that are currently in the works for that particular truck.
If you’d still like us to answer your additional questions please contact us via email at Fold-a-Cover Support
Man, no plans?? That’s a bummer 🙁
Your 4 panel design makes all the sense in the world on an 8 foot, leaving enough space behind the front panel for most bikes, and even some snowmobiles. And to get the best payload and tow ratings with the f150, long beds are where it’s at, for 5th wheelers and others who want to avoid going to a 3/4 ton.
Can you check on plans again, just to make sure? With the new Superduty supposedly coming with an F150 cab and bed, there should be lots of similar 8 footers out there in not too long.
Demand is extremely low for the 8′ truck beds, unfortunately.
We haven’t heard anything about the new SuperDuty trucks, but if they are using the same truck beds as the F-150 then you may be in luck because I think we would design a cover for both sizes on the SuperDuty. It’s just that less a very small percentage of all F-150’s are coming with the 8′ truck bed so there isn’t enough demand to satisfy the costs of designing a new tonneau cover for the truck. That’s why there are currently no plans for a G4 Elite on the F-150 with an 8′ bed length.
Thanks for checking!
Didn’t know 8 footers were that rare nationally. Up here in ranch and snowmachine country, every other pickup truck has an 8′ bed. And your 4 panel layout, looks like it was specifically designed with 8 footers in mind.
Hello i just want to let you know that video is great and i have a new f150 super crew the box is the smallest one.this product i can order only by online? Or is any place in dallas texas in which i can go see it?
I currently have a 2013 ford Raptor. I have the Fold-a-Cover on it and love it. It looks like we’ll be trading this for the new Raptor in a few months and I’d like to get the same cover for it. I know the previous raptor truck bed was the same width as the standard F150, but not sure about the new one. Do you guys have any info on that yet?
Gus,
Thank you for contacting Fold-a-Cover.
That would be a question better suited for your Ford Dealership. We would assume that the truck bed is going to be the same as it has in year’s past but we have not yet been able to confirm that.

Are there any available pictures of the cover installed on a 2016 f150?
Hi Travis. The image in our online Factory Store shows a 2015 F150 which is a very similar body style: http://www.foldacoverfactorystore.com/FD3742-G4-Elite-Fold-A-Cover.html.
